The Foodwatch Alternative Cookbook

Honor J. Campbell

Over 300 vegetarian recipes, all free of wheat, cow's milk and chemical additives.

I find, with my extremely restrictive diet, useful cook books are not so easy to find. I've used Honor Campbell's book more useful than most - not just for recipes but also for information on how to substitute ingredients such as oil for hard fats in baking. All the recipes are vegetarian and use only natural ingredients.

The recipes in the fourth edition are coded so that they can also be used for four specific diets:

I really like the basic no no nonsense style of this book and have used it a lot over the years.

You will find recipes for Breakfast Cereals, Breads, Waffles, Cakes, Pastries, Puddings, Starters and soups, Savoury dishes, Preserves, drinks and lots more.

The bread section includes recipes for rye bread, barley bread, potato and rice bread, potato and chestnut bread, Amaranth bread, Barley soda bread,, Millet bread, Brown rice batter bread.
