Prescription for Nutritional Healing
A practical A-Z reference to drug-free remedies using vitamins, minerals, herbs and food supplements.
James Balch and Phyllis Balch
This is a massive book in more ways than one. A4+ in size with more than 500 pages it covers, in surprising detail, more than 200 conditions.
The book is divided into three parts:
Part 1 Understanding the Elements of Health includes information on vitamins, minerals, amino acids, antioxidants, enzymes etc...
Part 2 The Disorders makes up the main body of the book. Each condition is briefly explained, followed by an explanation of which nutrients are important and/or helpful. Information is also given on herbs as well as general recommendations.
Some of the conditions covered, that may be of interest to anyone with a food problem, include Acidosis, Allergies, Celiac disease, Chemical Allergies, CFS, Environmental Toxicity, Fibromyalgia, Gout, Hay fever, Hives, Hyperactivity, IBS, Lactose Intolerance, Malabsorption Syndrome, Psoriasis, Sinusitis, Weakened Immune System, Yeast Infection.
Part 3 Remedies and Therapies includes details of Ascorbic Acid Flush, Chelation therapy, Juicing, Pain control and Therapeutic Liquids amongst others.
This book is an excellent reference book to have. It was recommended to me and I have used a great deal since buying a copy. It is also excellent value for money.
This review is of the second edition.
