A twenty eight year old man experienced itching on the roof of his mouth and generalised urticaria after eating olives. The symptoms subsided spontaneously within a few hours.

It was already known that he reacted to olive pollen and further tests identified allergies to olive fruit. Olive oil did not cause any symptoms.
