Calcium Propionate

Calcium propionate is a very commonly used food additive in bread - its primary role is to act as a preservative.

Dengate and Ruben carried out a study with in which some children with behaviour problems were found to have certain conditions  worsened by calcium propionate.

The conditions that worsened were:

Irritability
Restlessness
Inattention, and
Sleep disturbance.
