Guidance on food allergy in children
In the UK's National Health Service, allergy care takes place in primary care and community settings, and children and young people with a clear diagnosis are usually managed by general practitioners or with over-the-counter drugs. If there is diagnostic doubt or symptoms of more severe disease, referral to specialist care will be considered. Concerns have been expressed about the occurrence of food allergy in the general population, because of an apparent increase in prevalence in recent decades and the potentially severe consequences—about one in 20 children has a food allergy, with one child in 50 allergic to nuts.
You can read the full report and guideline summaries on the NICE site.
