Readers Comments - The Food Intolerance Handbook
Please note that The Food intolerance Handbook used to be called Change Your Diet and Change Your Life.
"This book sets out an excellent plan to help identify foods that may cause problems with your health. Food intolerance is a growing concern for many individuals and can make simple dietary needs difficult to manage. This book was written by Sharla after she herself suffered poor health due to foods not suited to her, and so she set about trying to identify the problem ones. If you think you are suffering from food intolerance or food allergies then this easy to follow book is for you." What Medicine Summer 2002
"I am an Otorhinolaryngolist in Durham, North Carolina who specializes in amongst other things food allergy. I have been in practice for well over ten years. Your advice is not only common sense but very well researched. I would highly recommend it as required reading for any of my food allergy patients." Robert Taylor MD
"I wanted to write to thank you for all the research and hard work you have put into your web site and your book. It is extremely well researched and thoughtfully organized. You have saved my daughter and my family untold misery! A simple thank you does not seem to be enough to express how you have helped us.”
"My grateful thanks for Change Your Diet and Change Your Life... I now feel I know where I am going and am greatly improved - but it is a constant fight. Your book is my best weapon, I'm so grateful for it, again, Many Thanks Sharla.”
"Excellent book very informative a great help if your suffering with food related issues."
"Thank you, thank you, thank you. At last an explanation to my problems AND a solution. Fantastic book."
"I am absolutely amazed at what I have learned from Sharla's e-book "Change your Diet and Change your Life". There was suddenly had an answer to the majority of symptoms which I had suffered to a greater or lesser degree all my life - and not only that, but someone else had suffered them too!"
Very interesting information for anyone exploring the connection between food and health issues (in my case chronic skin rashes). Anyone with allergies or intolerance knows that it's a process to figure it out and you have to start somewhere and this is a great resource, with tons of information and cross references. My skin is not perfect, but it's the best it's been in years.
"I did print out the entire book when I did the download and read it straight through that night. You've done a great job and its a great service. I'm amazed at how little information is available about this compared to food allergies."
"Wow. I'm amazed at all the information it contains. I wish to goodness that there had been the opportunity of reading it 35 years ago - it might have made that period (and actually a lot longer than that) a little easier and saved me so much pain, illness and frustration.”
"I was able to say 'Yes!' to so many things in your book (even more than from your website). Quite a few I didn't even realise until I read the book that could be put down to food intolerances. One thing stands out for me immediately - restless legs syndrome. It is something I've also suffered with for years but I could never ever get an answer for it. Another thing was your explanation of "brain fogging and confusion". Another sensitivity to light and/or noise. I could go on and on. Thank you - I'm not going mad after all."
"I really liked what you had to say about food intolerances being ‘part of life’ and not a ‘problem’. Perhaps if society becomes more accepting of this, those of us with food intolerances will be able to go out to eat and have more options on the menu (like breads made with different grains and not just wheat)."
“I have long considered you the foremost and best authority on salicylate problems. I have Change Your Diet and the Salicylate Handbook and both are like food bibles in my household!”
"I showed your book to my osteopath and he was impressed. He's probably ordered his own copy by now. He said the info on Purines is particularly hard to find."
“Dear Sharla, just wanted to say a big thank you (!) for having written those books. They have really helped me a lot in changing not only my diet, but also my life and gaining back the control of it. I've learned a lot with them. Now I look at food in a different way.”
“Thank you for putting all this information together in one place. I know it started out as an investigation into your own health problems but by doing the research you have made sense of all the information out there, some of it conflicting, and provided a valuable resource.”
“Thanks for writing this, it is really interesting reading and I plan to follow it. I hope it can help my 3 year old son, who already has confirmed allergies, but still has some symptoms (bad tummy) which the doctors have not able to diagnose and believe it to be food related, as well as myself.”
"Excellent book very informative a great help if your suffering with food related issues."
"This past winter I was reacting to so many different foods that it was hard to find anything that didn't cause me to react with hugely swollen eyelids (angioedema). I came across Sharla Race's website and bought both of her books, and was able to cobble together enough safe foods to slowly bring about healing in my body. I am so grateful for all the research she put into these books (this one and her Salicylate Handbook). Her writing style is very thorough as well as kind and supportive...thanks again!"
